Define disease? It is often asked by people wondering how to prevent a heart attack, stroke, or even death from some common health problems. The truth is that these questions are very much needed in order to gain awareness of what kinds of preventive measures or medical treatments are available. How does the disease affect your physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being? To get a better idea, let us look at each of these aspects individually.
The physical aspect includes issues such as pain and discomfort, fatigue, disfigurement, loss of function, and other physical limitations. Mental aspects include issues like: depression, anxiety, irritability, paranoia, mood swings, and psychosis. Social aspects include issues such as self-esteem, relationships, social skills, work performance, and functioning in a group or at home. And lastly, emotionally, the concept includes issues such as distress, loneliness, hopelessness, low self-esteem, guilt, and anger.
As mentioned earlier, disability is a very important part of defining disease. What is a disability? Disability is when you cannot do the things that others can do. When you have this type of impairment, you cannot perform the things that others can do, which normally makes you disabled. This kind of impairment must be treated or prevented.
Another way of thinking about disability is the medical model of defining disease. The medical model of defining disease says that you are sick if you cannot perform the activity of your life in its normal scope. Therefore, if you have a physical impairment, your normal activities would be compromised, making it hard to function normally. On the other hand, the social model of disability takes a slightly different approach.

According to JoAnn’s definition, disability is when a person cannot achieve the same level of success as others who are not disabled. In addition to the above studies, the Mayo Clinic defines disability as “an enduring physical impairment that significantly limits a person’s ability to function properly.” According to the Mayo Clinic, “Disability is not equal; rather, there are different levels of disability, and the degree of impairment a person experiences will vary with time.”
